«Those who still read» is conceived as a long-term documentary photography project rooted in an observation: Paris appears to be a city where physical bookstores remain vibrant and where reading printed books is still a visible, shared, and almost ritualistic act. This perception sparked a deeper curiosity—what does reading truly mean to those who continue to choose it in a fast-paced, digital world? The intention of this project is to explore the personal and emotional significance of reading through encounters with individuals immersed in books in public spaces such as parks, cafĂ©s, and streets.Â
By approaching and engaging with these readers, I aim not only to document the quiet, intimate moment of reading, but also to give voice to their inner reflections. Each participant is invited to write down what reading means to them, alongside the book they are currently experiencing. Through the combination of portraiture and handwritten testimonies, The Literature I Love seeks to create a collective yet deeply personal archive—one that reveals reading as a form of solitude, resistance, escape, or connection.Â
Ultimately, the project intends to highlight how literature continues to shape identities, nurture imagination, and offer meaning in contemporary urban life.
